How you can spend less than $1000.00 on diamond stud earrings

So you are thinking about getting your ears pierced and getting some brand new stud earrings. You then think to yourself, hmm what type of material should my earrings be made of? And then you say diamond! But then you go to the jewelry store and freak out because of the price tags. Yes it is unfortunate that the diamond is a very expensive material, and any type of jewelry containing diamonds can cost a lot of money. We will dive into the reasons why diamond is an expensive material then we will discuss how you can save money by just selecting a diamond which still looks good but is on the lower end of the diamond chart scale.

Why do diamond stud earrings cost so much money?-Diamonds are often classed as luxury items. Diamond studs typically have a price range from hundreds of dollars up to tens of thousands of dollars, so why the high price range?
Well it comes down to a couple of reasons.
Many people think that diamonds are a rare commodity but that isn’t the case, there are quite a lot of diamonds on earth however a one of the biggest diamond producers DeBeers controls the market of diamonds. They control the supply of diamonds in the market and hence the price.
The final result is that DeBeers controls the quality and the size of diamonds every year and hence their control the price.
Diamonds are however very precious stones because of their gem quality and hardness and it is a material that most people look for when they want to buy new jewelry.

Now lets look at some of the factors which contribute to the price of diamond stud earrings for men, and diamond stud earrings for women.
Always look for the GIA reports of your diamond stud earring. The report contains information on the color, clarity, cut, and carat weight of your diamond stud earring.

 The famous  GIA reports scale

Color: Excluding black diamond stud earrings, diamonds are graded because of their color. White diamonds are graded from a grade D (colorless) to Z (light yellow-brown). So if you want a cheaper diamond stud earring you will buy one with a grading closer to Z. To avoid paying thousands of dollars for a diamond stud earring consider one with a grading between K-L. K-L diamonds have some hint of color, but they can be barely seen with the naked eye.

Clarity-This is the factor which controls how clear the stone.. The clearer the diamond, the more expensive your earring will be. Diamonds are graded from a clarity scale of FL (flawless- and no inclusions) to I1,I2,I3 (Inclusions visible to the naked eye). Affordable diamond stud earrings are normally in the I1-I3,  but diamond cutters cut the diamonds in such a way that the inclusions and blemishes are not seen by the naked eye. So to avoid paying an enormous amount of money for your diamond stud earrings consider looking for clarity levels in the I1-I3 range. Normally people don’t pay attention to the clarity, because the inclusions are hard to see with the naked eye, but they do significantly determine the price you will pay.

Cut- This is another significant factor into determining the price of your earrings. Do NOT mistake the cut of a diamond to its shape; rather think of the cut of a diamond as the relationship between the size, shape and angle within each facet of the stone. What does this mean? Well basically a well cut diamond reflects more light than a less poorly cut diamond.  As you guessed brilliantly cut diamonds are more expensive than poorly cut diamonds. Diamonds cut are graded between Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair to poor. We recommend that you select diamond stud earrings on the good scale. Anything below good  and it will be the same as buying a moulded glass rock from the ground. Anything above good then expects to pay a few thousand dollars.

Carat weight- The carat weight is just the weight of the diamond. 1 carat is basically 0.2 grams which is the same as the weight of a paper clip. The greater the carat weight the more money you will pay for your diamond engagement ring. 2 carat diamond stud earrings are significantly more expensive than 1 carat diamond stud earrings. Not only that, but the higher the carat weight the greater you will pay on a carat per weight basis.
If you want to pay less than a thousand dollars for diamond stud earrings, then go for ones with a weight of 0.6 carats and below.

Location: Where you buy your diamond stud earrings will not matter so much as diamonds are an internationally priced commodity. For example diamond stud earrings us prices will not be significantly different from diamond stud earrings uk prices (taking inflation into account).
